Interesting facts about PIM
What is PIM?
PIM (product information management) refers to the provision of all product information within a company. Such information is offered via various output media and sales channels, depending on the location. Customised data processing and distribution is guaranteed by media-neutral storage of product information - product characteristics and texts, images, documents or videos are stored in various languages.
Why PIM?
In most companies, information is decentralised and stored in several different formats. Data are also used for different purposes, such as detailed product descriptions in a catalogue or together with concrete product information such as dimensions and weight in the logistics division. PIM is used to update and make available relevant data for production, communication or purchasing purposes to multiple users and in several applications.
PIM and CMS
Two sources of information, one synergy effect. Both systems publish content from one source via several output channels. Integration can be used to import current product information directly from PIM, both into the CMS and into shop systems, at the press of a button. Maintenance and refinement of product data takes place via PIM, while CMS handles the publication process. When combined, both systems offer a high level of user-friendliness and performance.
